RAJATAIDE ASSOCIATION WAS formed to serve art and artists. Rajataide is not a trade union, it is a forum that can be joined already during studies. In addition to artists, the association's members consist of young professionals and students from other fields as well. Members can use the association as a project group to realize their ideas. Rajataide gathers together people who want to increase the visibility of art in Tampere by their own actions. New members are most welcome! To keep its view fresh in the future also, Rajataide has decided to set the right to vote to members under the age of 36 years. However, older age does not prevent participation to exhibitions and other activities of the association. GALLERIA RAJATILA IS an art gallery near Tampere city centre maintained by Rajataide association. The association and the gallery exist to refresh the art scene of Tampere and to increase the visibility of new artists. Gallery Rajatila began to operate on 4th of July 1997. The gallery consists of about 70 square meters of exhibition space with large display windows towards Hämeenpuisto park. If needed this space can be dimmed. In the basement there is a windowless space painted black (35 square meters). The basements suits well the needs of video, sound, multimedia and installation art. In the same premises with Galleria Rajatila is the Laitapuoti store for small presses and vanity publishers. CONTACT
